Music Appreciation report on 27th July 2016 meeting

Danni Wotton presented an interesting programme of music that had been inspired by the works of Shakespeare.

This included;

act 3 of Verdi’s “Falstaff”,

four pieces from Prokofiev’s “Romeo & Juliet”,

“Ah, la paterna mano” from “Macbeth”

Purcell’s “If music be the food of love”,

“Nor Nobis Domine” from “Henry V”.

Bernstein’s “West Side Story”,

Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s dream”,

act 4 from Verdi’s “Othello”,

“Too Darn Hot”, “We Open in Venice”, “Brush up Your Shakespeare”, and “From This Moment On” from “Kiss me Kate”,

concluding with five Sonnets by Shakespeare.
