After a few years of Tony Roberson dominance the Photography Group’s annual competition was won by Peter Dixon.
Members had submitted three mounted pictures each. We are grateful to Tony from the Bead Shop (no mean photographer himself) for judging the entries. He felt that all the entries were of a high standard and the group thought that there had been a significant improvement over the past few years.
Tony felt that this was a bird with attitude. Peter explained that he had been able to get the near black background by using a telephoto lense and carefully kneeling down so that the background was a dark and out-of-focus barn door.
In second place was another of Peter’s photographs, this time of Corfe Castle using a special effect built into his camera which he discovered by accident!
Not to be left out Tony Roberson’s owl came third.
One of the commended images was this study of Bluebells by Tim Addison.
The meeting ended with mulled wine, mince pies and stollen.
