Aims and Objectives

Our Aims are to increase our members’ enjoyment of photography, to help members improve their photographic techniques, and to encourage them to take and share photographs.

Our Objectives are:
to increase our knowledge and skills at every meeting;
to encourage all members to take photographs they would not otherwise take;
to ensure that all members can get the best from their equipment;
to involve all members in presenting their photographs and discussing what they like about other members’ photographs.

To help us achieve our goals the typical meeting programme includes:
  • an opportunity for members to present and discuss up to 3 printed photographs on an agreed theme.
  • an educational session aimed at improving knowledge and skills.
  • an open session where members can project their favourite photographs on other subjects.
Sometimes these structured sessions will be replaced by an outing to take photographs.

We will be building up a small library of notes from our knowledge and skills sessions on our More on Photography   page. Why not click on the link and see what we have there.

What we do

We encourage members to learn more about photography and photographic techniques and to get more from the equipment that they use. This can be through a discussion of images we have brought in (either prints or on a memory stick), through knowledge and skills sessions at meetings, through visits to an exhibition or by setting ourselves a project and heading out with our cameras.  At the end of each year we have a photographer of the year competition.    Search the site for previous articles on Photography to see some of the things we have done.

Our More on Photography   page contains  some useful  articles and links.
