Recycling a Grade 2* Listed Station Building – Lance Adlam

Lance spoke to a slide-show of photos related to “Recycling a Grade 2* Listed Station Building”.

This showed the development of Victorian construction methods as exemplified by the building of the Crystal Palace at Sydenham for the Great Exhibition of 1851, and related construction of the Oxford Rewley Road railway station. This station was closed to passengers in 1951, and then its components were moved, refurbished & reconstructed at the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre at Quainton Road railway station, and formally opened in 2002. Lance acted as architect & project manager for this latter work, and gave an interesting & detailed description of it.
