70th Anniversary Concert
On Monday 19th September 16 of us went up to the Royal Albert Hall for the 70th Anniversary Concert of the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra and what a treat it was! A really first class performance from Charles Dutoit, Conductor.
The concert started with Rossini’s William Tell Overture. Martha Argerich played Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor and then came back for an encore. We were then treated to Pinchas Zukerman violin who played Bruch violin concerto No. 1. The programme finished with Stravinsky The Firebird Suite (1919). The orchestra was brilliant – and so was the evening. All this in the presence of HRH The Duke of York, KG. with a free concert programme too!
The journey up to and from London was by coach so no need to worry about transport home. A wonderful evening!
