Carole Barfoot wins Annual Competition

The Photography Group held its Annual Competition on 18th December and this year we had another new winner.

First place was taken by Carole Barfoot with a photograph of …. well, some weird statue with a load of blokes around it. So we now have a year of Carole keeping up Irene’s tradition of crowing about her success at every opportunity. But at least she stopped John Culling taking all three prizes: he took 2nd place with a wonderful sunset (over Risborough, as it happens) and 3rd place with a beautiful macro shot of a butterfly.

First Place – Carole Barfoot
Second Place – John Culling

Third Place – John Culling

Congratulations to both Carole & John – well-deserved results. John also had a Highly Commended!

Highly commended – Tim Addison (taken on an i-Phone!)
Highly Commended – Bernard Foot

Many thanks to John Minter for volunteering to judge the competition, and bringing in his experience of photography and competition in the wider world of photography clubs.

If you weren’t able to make it, you missed some great photographs – but you’ll have a chance to see them at the General Meeting in January (8th, at 2 p.m. at the Community Centre). Interestingly all except one of the photographs above were taken on a Canon EOS camera (5D, 6D or 760D). The exception shows that you don’t need an expensive camera to get a good photograph.
