Gravity – history to the present day – Garth Wilkinson

Garth Wilkinson gave an introductory talk on Gravity – history to the present day. This included dealing with experiments aimed at verifying one of the predictions of Einstein’s Theory of General Relativity, such as the direct detection of gravitational waves [e.g. using the Laser Interferometric Gravitational Observatory (LIGO)].

More widely, the meeting addressed the scientific & technological background of attendees, and concluded that there was sufficient “critical mass” to take the group forward on a self-help basis in terms of potential speakers.
