December Monthly Meeting – Social Committee report

Some festive Music welcomed us in, and this provided a pleasant ambiance within the room.   Friends greeted each other, and found their places – some had reserved a table.

The meeting started with a talk by Roger Shaw about the 14th Century Chinese Civilization and Culture.  Evidence points to the fact that they were in America before the times of Christopher Columbus.  A very interesting, shorter than usual, talk which surprised those in charge of food,  and sent us galloping to the kitchen  to heat up the Mince Pies.

We served savoury nibbles first of all whilst the handsome, experienced waiters served red or white wine.   As well as mince pies, we had shortbread, delicious mini Stollen pieces, and small Yule logs.  Tea and coffee were also available.

Wine Waiters

The table decorations were made and given by the Garden Group.  Each table had one chair with a Christmas motif placed on it, and that lucky person took home the decoration.

As the wine flowed the conversation grew!

Positive comments were made about a lovely relaxing afternoon.

I would like to thank Everyone who made a great team effort which ensured the success of the afternoon.

This includes Michael for the Music, the chair teams,  Garden Group, superb Waiters, and all members who rallied round serving food, then clearing away and washing up.  Also Geraint for booking and introducing the Speaker, and John, our Membership Secretary for counting numbers and being Calm.

A very happy healthy festive season to you all.

From the Social Committee.
