Chinese New Year

The theme of the afternoon was the Chinese New Year.  To start with we watched a charming film of Chinese people dancing and singing.  This was following by an interesting talk, given by Philip Gander. about the life and customs of the Chinese people.  Elaine Brown followed this by talking about Chinese food.

We broke for refreshments which consisted of Spring Rolls and Spare Ribs with Prawn Crackers and tea or green tea, served with home-made almond biscuits. Following Chinese New Year tradition, each member left with a red letter to help bring a safe and peaceful new year and an orange to bring wealth!



For our February meeting a group of us will be meeting at 1pm at The Peacock in Henton and in March we will discuss meals which may be made from the stock cupboard.
