Food & Wine June 2014

As June is usually the month for the barbecue to come in to use for meals in the garden, Eileen and Geoff prepared and cooked some pieces of chicken and lamb to bring to the meeting and the members supplied a fantastic variety of salads and side dishes to accompany the meat.  The star attraction appeared to be slices of cucumber in a lime jelly which was very tasty and to most of us, unusual to serve with meat.  To accompany the food we had Pimms, wine and soft drinks available.After our usual break for tea Eileen gave out the notices which included a change of venue for our next meeting due to a band concert arranged for that Wednesday in the main hall.  We will be meeting in the Lower Baptist Church Hall at the usual time. Our speaker, Amanda Ruse, will present some interesting facts about the humble strawberry.  Samples may be tasted with scones and cream.

On Wednesday, 20th August, a group of us will enjoy a buffet meal at the Pink and Lily pub.

Food and Wine Appreciation will not be meeting in September, but will return in October with a talk by June Heywood from the new XT micro-brewery near Long Crendon.
