Puddings and Desserts

As we moved into autumn we began to think about comfort foods – not however pumpkin soup or a hearty stew, but more of the sweet variety.
Elaine got things moving with an interesting and entertaining talk on the history of desserts and then we moved on to the tasting. Eileen had set us a challenge of making sweet things with unusual ingredients and this is what we came up with.

All looking rather normal  but what we’re looking at is
– lemon drizzle cake with mashed potato
– chilli and avocado ice-cream
– condensed tomato soup muffins
– beetroot and apple bread

And just to round things  off we had a small glass of dessert wine to accompany them. Speaking of wine, our theme next month will be the wines of Italy.
